We have hunger and freeze

We got to know the Lucky's personal, when we arrived in Paraguay, in february 2006. Before, we had a realy nice e-mail contact with her doughter susanne, because we had the idea to emigrate to Paraguay and we needed a lot of informations of this land. We stayed for 3 weeks in Caacupé and surroundings and got many usebul informations from the Lucky's. Further more we found pleasure in this land and we wanted to live there. In this time the Lucky's told us something about the Chaco (the wilderness of Paraguay) and about the Indians who live there. But our stay was to short to plan a tour in this region.
At the day 25.6. we returned in Paraguay with a One-Way-Ticket, to live there. Natural we spoke once more about the Chaco with the Lucky's, above all, the both plan to produce a completly film about this interesting area. In July we started to our first Chaco-Tour and from this time we are enthusiastic supporters. But also we saw the extrem bad way of live from the Indians and we were realy embarassed, incredibly for each europaen. After this tour we had a lot of discussions with the Lucky's, because we wanted to start a little help for some Indians.
No sooner said than done - we gave some money to make a big purchases of foodstuff, in all 550 kg (rice, noodles, sugar, sult, beans, bread, maize ect.). The next Chaco-Tour should be at the end of august. Meanwhile we prepared the Foodstuff in little care-packages and the Lucky's informed the television and radiostations from Caacupé. the town in whitch we live, and they made a television program about our private contribution to the Indians.

At the day 4.9., early in the morning, at 4șclock we started with the Lucky's to our Chaco-Tour. Our car was full packed with foodstuff and Lucky's car full with film equipment. Our first target area was Filadelfia, a town which was build by the mennonites. The Luckys wanted to take there some pictures and to produce films. Than they told us from an Indian group who live in an other area from the Chaco, near by Pozo Colorado in a realy miserable situation. They got to know them one year before, when they stayed in the Chaco. And so we decided to search for them at the next day. The search was realy a big challenge, because the Luckys did'nt rember the way to the Indians. 2 hours later, after some backwards and forwards and a realy troublesome path, typical for the Chaco, whith a lot of sands, we arrived the Indian group.
It was a great hearty welcome from the indians and the Luckys explained to the 3 leaders of the group our private contribution with the foodstuff. The Indians were filled with gratetude and we were visibly impressed in this wounderful and warm atmosphere. We organized with the leaders the distribution of the care-packages. 39 familys live in this group and so every family got a package. At the end some packages left over and the rest got the familys with more childrens. After the distribution we talked with the leaders and the teacher. They were realy grateful for our help and told us the most essential things are lacking. They need also clothes, especially for the very cold winter in the Chaco and school requisites.
At the time we stayed there, some of the Indians tried to get a better situation for their health. But the goverment of Paraguay ist not interest in the miserable situation of the Indians.
The farewell was like the welcome, realy warm and hearty and we gave the promise to come back.
We hope we can move, with our private help, some more people to give one more a little help to this poor Indians.
